About the Contest
The Jewish Museum of Buffalo invites young artists to participate in My Superpowers of Joy, a youth art contest celebrating creativity, optimism, and the power of joy through visual art.
This exhibition encourages children and teens to reflect on what joy means to them and how it can be expressed visually. Artworks should uplift, celebrate, and express joy and positivity — whether through color, story, imagination, or personal experience.
Open to all — everyone is welcome.
Who Can Participate
The contest is open to youth artists in the following age groups:
- Preschool
- Grades 1–4
- Grades 5–7
Only one artwork per artist may be submitted.
Artwork Guidelines
- Media: Any media on paper, or small paper sculpture

Size Requirements:
- Minimum: 5 × 7 inches
- Maximum: 16 × 20 inches
- Artworks should be original and created by the participating artist.
- Work should reflect the theme of joy and positivity in a way that feels meaningful to the artist.
Call for Art & Submission Details
Must have the artist's name along with Artist’s Guardian with phone number or email on the back of the submitted artwork.
- Artwork may be dropped off or mailed to the Jewish Museum of Buffalo during the submission window.
Please call ahead or email ruby@jmbuffalo.org to schedule a drop-off time during the drop-off window.

Awards Celebration
May 3, 2026
Participating artists and their families are invited to attend a special celebration recognizing the submitted artworks. Awards, prizes, and honors will be presented in a joyful, family-friendly environment.
